Conor McGregor Set to Make UFC Return Against Michael Chandler in Middleweight Showdown
Conor McGregor said on Sunday that he's going back into the fighting space. He will fight with Michael Chandler on June 29 in Las Vegas.
McGregor told everyone in a video he put on his social media.
A UFC spokesperson didn't say yes or no about the fight. McGregor, aged 35 and not in the ring since 2021, was seen at a restaurant with glass of wine. He looked like he had been drinking it. He said the fight would happen in middleweight (185-pound) group.
"Happy new year to you all," says McGregor in the video. "I want to tell everyone about my return date. Me, famous Conor McGregor will be back for a big comeback in Las Vegas on International Fight Week."
Before, McGregor had UFC titles in two weight classes - 145 pounds and 155 pounds. His last big fight on July 10, 2021 was a defeat by knockout to Dustin Poirier after McGregor's leg got broken.
McGregor and the 37-year-old Chandler have been opponents in "The Ultimate Fighter" TV show.
Chandler wrote on social media about McGregor's announcement on Sunday.
"I have always said I wanted you when you are biggest, strongest and best," Chandler wrote. "185 would look good on me."
