Paddy Pimblett Wants to Send Covington to the "Shadow Realm" After Controversial UFC 296 Press Conference
Las Vegas, NV - Notably, when the UFC 296 press conference took place; it was as exciting as that time when tensions are so high, yet both parties try their best not to lose their cool. However, one of the hottest moments was experienced by welterweight contender Colby Covington who made an incendiary comment about late Leon Edwards’ dad.
Pimblett, who will take on Tony Ferguson in the main card of UFC 296, showed visible disappointment in Covington’s statement. Afterwards, he informed reporters saying “I wanted to leap up and kick his ass!”
Pimblett stated, “That was way too far.” “I just wanted to whale on him. No one can speak ill of your dad. If they talk trash about my granny, a grandma, I’m ready to beat the living daylights out of them.”
Further, pimblett had stated that hopefully, Edwars send covington to the shadow realm during their up coming contest. "Rightfully so," Pimblett said. I’d like him to flatten [Covington].
There was a broad public outcry by the MMA community against his comments. There were many angry fighters and fans who vented out on social media.
“I believe Colby did me dirty right there,” said the UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. That kind of talk does not belong here.
“I’m a big fan of Colby’s style of fighting, but that was a low act,” stated UFC welterweight contender Jorge Masvidal. He should say sorry to Leon and his family.
If any, the UFC may also punish Covington on the matter. However, one thing is for sure: this has only aggravated speculation that the UFC 296 main fight would prove to be a real blast.
