The Briscoes, FTR, and Blackpool Combat Club Deliver Emotional Tribute to Jay Briscoe at ROH Final Battle
Baltimore, MD (December 16, 2023) – The Final Battle was not only the night of championship battles and brutally charged matches, but also an emotional memorial to Jay Briscoe – the much-admired late wrestler. Mark Briscoe, Jay’s brother and teammate, joined FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) to give the dominant Blackpool Combat Club (comprising Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, and Claudio Castagnoli) an epic beatdown that
In the first tone, grief was intertwined with determination from the very start of the bell. In the ring, Mark Briscoe was fighting with a fire, unparalleled — he channeled the spirit of his deceased sibling in every clothesline and move. The Briscoes’ longtime buddies, FTR, showed their loyalty through synchronized attacks and solidarity.
The intensity was not only confined within the BCC but also between the rival forces turned reluctant allies. In a way of almost with respect bordering on a reverence, Danielson fought Marks. Thus, after all this raw emotion had been shown by Moxley, purveyor of violence, his typical frenzied attacks—even with his favourite barbed-wire bat—seemed muted. Castagnoli the Swiss Super man stood strong displaying the power one must have when dealing with such a storm.
The combat was a chaotic ballet of release and revenge. They broke tables, threw bodies through chairs, spilled blood everywhere. Surprisingly, some instances of pure beauty came out of this horror. The precise and well-timed dropkick by Wheeler. An unbelievable moonsault by Harwood. And finally, the moment the entire arena held its breath for: Jay Driller was “caged up” by Mr.Mark Briscoe because of a love immortal. Crowd cried, tears trickled all faces, and Jay Briscoe was there in spirit.
Mark Briscoe with an ROH World Six-man tag team title held high above his head at final bell. His face bore a silent promise as he gazed heavenward. In this case, “this was” not just for him or himself/his tag teams’ win; it was “for Jay” which is like a proof of his love/brotherhood that cannot be divided apart.
Mark Briscoe concluded the night by speaking about the ROH family as he almost cried because of such excitement. He mentioned Jay, about their experience, and the teachings that came out of the fireplace of loss. He touched on the future, the torch of the Briscoes and the indomitability that would always be their heritage.
The final ROH battle was about more that just a wrestling show but as a night to heal, remember and celebrate life despite death.Q The Briscoes, FTR, and the BCC gave a show which proved that no matter how dark one’s situation maybe, the human spirit can rise above the challenges and the bonds of brotherhood can never be severed.
Without doubt it would be among memorable events in ROH history which will leave lasting impression for that the wrestling has curative abilities, inspires and eternalizes the memory of genuine icon.
